Nagoya Grampus   Leave a comment

Nagoya are one of the 5 clubs which have maintained a J1 status since it was started, but for a long time had held that status without ever winning the division. That all changed in 2010 when based on a strong defensive game they captured the J-League Championship.
Coming to international attention in the 90s when they exemplified the boom of J-League by attracting Lineker, Stojkovic and Wenger to the club under the sponsorship of Toyota they will be hoping to do well in the Asian Champions League having attracted Kensuke Nagai to sign from under the noses of Avispa.
Get their name from the genus of dolphins which sit atop the castle in Nagoya.
