One of the 2 clubs in Osaka they have recently had a big resurgence after gaining promotion back to J1 in 2009 and following this up by immediately finishing 3rd in J1 to secure an Asian Champions league spot.
they managed this despite losing their star player, Shinji Kagawa, who transferred to Europe to become a big star.
Yet to win the J-league, but have come close a couple of times.
