Position : Left wing
DOB : 16 Dec 1985
Height : 1.78m
Weight : 69kg
Nickname : Genki
Came to Avispa in 2010 from Tokyo Verdy where he didn’t have a huge reputation and wasn’t getting a lot of games, and having been thrown straight into the first team as a key player he rewarded the club with a goal-getting season which exceeded everyone’s expectations.
Having previously scored 11 goals in 6 seasons with Verdy and Shonan Bellmare he finished the season with 15 goals in 35 games to finish as top goalscorer for the club and earn himself a song from the supporters.
Playing primarily as a tricky left winger he is almost entirely offensively minded with very few defensive duties assigned to him. Likes to run with the ball, and can strike a good shot with either foot. Hovers in the box for set-pieces and has a useful knack of getting some part of himself onto loose balls and finds the goal from a metre out.
Shocked the fans at the end of the promotion season by announcing that he was going to move to Ventforet Kofu after a single season. He had looked unhappy at times during the season, and having played his whole career in the Kanto area I think he may have been eager to get back there.
His sister plays for the Japanese Woman’s Football team apparently.
