Oh Chan Hyon returns.   Leave a comment

It was announced today that right-back Oh Chan Hyon has had his loan to Nagasaki terminated and is now back at Avispa. I’m not sure who decided to cancel the loan, but we certainly need some cover at right-back and he wasn’t getting games at Nagasaki (only 2 this season).

o0375049912285006471I always thought that Oh not getting a game last season was as much of a mystery as Ushinohama not playing. When he got chances as a substitute at the start of the season he looked amazing at times pulling off some incredible skills, but then didn’t do so well with his defensive positioning.
Maybe it was this inconsistency which saw him not be given chances, but the way the team was playing last year it was an excellent chance to give him more opportunity and see if he can develop his game into something useful.

Our formation relies on the full-backs to give us some width at times and support midfield, which has seen Mishima and Kanamori play there at times, but I feel Oh may just come into the same situation as Min Je.
I still believe the Min Je is the best left-back at the club, and will give us a lot more going forward than his occasional defensive lapses will cost, but he doesn’t seem to be getting a game. I don’t really understand why, as someone who could play left wing and left-back he would seem ideal, and Oh is going to be in a similar position as an attacking right-back on the other side.

Oh’s comments on returning to the club (translation): “I’m back everyone! I’m really happy that it has been possible to return to Avispa where I originally belonged. I’m looking forward to seeing the passionate Avispa fans again after transferring from Nagasaki, and to be able to play in front of them again. I will work hard to adapt my game to the team, and to try and contribute towards victory. Thank you for your support.
