Avispa today announced the signing of the first new signing of the close season as midfielder Shuto Nakahara signs from University.
He has been at Kyushu University for 3 years, while also being listed as a designated player for Giravanz Kitakyushu for the last season.
While at Giravanz he played in 5 games, and managed to score a goal in a start against Ehime in May of last year.
Designated players are generally ones which the JFA think are promising, and give them a chance for experience while also at university (although it doesn’t always work out; see Miyaji for example).
Coming from Kyushu University he may well be exactly the sort of intelligent ball player we need in the middle of the pitch to help run a game.
It certainly helps to add numbers towards our big problem area, with his brief description on the club homepage saying he is a good passer over long and short distances, and can hopefully dictate the play.
He is quite small, but I’d be happy to see someone with a bit of pace and energy more than size at the moment.
