After 2 weeks of the season there are 5 clubs in the division with a 100% record. 2 of them meet each other this week as Avispa travel to Shonan to see who will lose their record.
It marks Avispa’s first big test of the season, in a week where they will also have to play JEF United on Tuesday. Shonan have looked like a really good team so far getting wins against Kyoto and Kusatsu, and will go into the game as clear favorites for the win.
With 2 games in 4 days there may well be some rotation of players this week, although with such a new team and fresh from season break maybe it is better to let them get more pitch time together.
I really hope Maeda makes full use of substitutes in both games as injuries and suspensions are going to take effect some time and players like Omata, Oh and Miyaji should get time on the pitch to help when they do play.
It will be too early for new player Samir, and the team will probably be identical to that of the previous away game with Machida.
Shonan have a really young team who have been one of the stand out teams in the opening two weeks playing with a lot of energy and excellent movement.
Their best player has been Endo, who at age 19 is already Captain at the club and been playing like it. He looks like he is going to be a very good player, but being so young may be prone to inconsistency and mistakes so hopefully he will have an off day tomorrow.
Up front Kenji Baba has shown he is more than just a haircut, and will stretch the defence with his running.
Shonan 2 – 1 Avispa
I think Avispa will play well, I’m looking forward to seeing them being forced to play at a higher level, but Shonan have looked much better in their 2 wins than Avispa have in theirs.
