vs. Urawa Reds (ratings)   Leave a comment

Kamiyama – 7 Made a couple of good saves in the first half, and had no chance with either of the goals. Needs to be more commanding for crosses.

Yusuke – 8 Strong performance at right-back again. Having him on the wing gives natural width which helps Naruoka by allowing him to play more centrally. Cramped up at the end, but that just showed how much running he’d been doing.

Kim min Je – 8 I think he is great. A marauding full-back who puts great balls into the box from advanced positions, but a consequence of that is he gets caught out of position quite regularly. Maybe I’d like him in midfield against stronger teams.

Makoto – 7 Reads the game so well, but his body is telling him to stop now. Could do well at J2 level next year, but probably doesn’t fancy the running and the battles.

Kobara – 7 Definitely good enough for J2. Was having some trouble with Escudero, but generally limited chances for Urawa throughout.

Sueyoshi – 5 Just isn’t dynamic to survive as part of a midfield 2 at J1 level. Got the wrong side of a runner and gave away a weak penalty to lose the game and get sent off.

Suzuki – 6 Of the 2 in the middle he has made the most progress this year. Tackling is much better, and rarely gives the ball away, but will also always struggle as part of a 2 unless he works on his fitness.

Matsuura – 7 Always looks good on the right when he has Kim Min Je alongside him as he likes to cut inside rather than break down the line so gets more space and options with Kim.

Hideya – 7 Would score 6-7 goals a season for any team in any division due to his competent long range shooting and willingness to go for it, but apart from this his game is quite limited.

Yutaka – 5 Should have scored with a clear header early on. Didn’t make much else. Wasn’t announced to be leaving after the game but will have to work hard to impress a new manager in my opinion.

Naruoka – 7 Out on the right again, but with Yusuke behind him he is able to play more centrally (much like Matsuura and Kim) where his subtlety is much more effective.

Nakamachi – 7 Links with Naruoka better than anyone else, and had a decent shot on goal, but isn’t the player from last year.

Tatsunori – 6 Came on and had no chance to do anything but say goodbye.

Jogo – 7 Ran around a bit after he came on. Needs to see himself as a 70 minute player for next season and work himself into the ground every week and be happy to be substituted.

Asano – 6 Good to see him keeping faith with Yusuke at home, no idea what is going on with Daiki, Jogo and Nakamachi.
