Some good news coming out of the club as having won the J2 Rookie of the Year award for last season Sueyoshi has now signed a new contract to stay with Avispa for next year.
The 1 year rolling contract system which exists in Japan seems to be pretty crazy, and it is possible that having not got him on a contract before this he could have just left for a different club (like Genki may well be) or gone to try his luck in Europe.
Hopefully Avispa will start bucking the trend a little by offering him a 2 year contract so he can’t just leave at the end of next season for nothing if he feels like it. Unless he gets a career ending injury it would seem a fairly risk free investment.
Sueyoshi scoring his goal against Mito. Avispa need a lot more shots from outside the box if they are to survive in J1 and him and Suzuki Jun seem the only ones willing to regularly do it.
