Transfers   Leave a comment

While I have been away for Christmas there has been some activity in the transfer market, but not really very much which makes me very excited, or even optimistic about finishing outside the bottom 3 next season.

Firstly I was quite pleased to see that Nagira was being linked with a move to FC Tokyo. They will be looking for promotion next year and I’m sure he’d be a good squad defender for them, and may well benefit from the change in scenery.
I wasn’t surprised to see Jumbo being picked up quickly, but was surprised by who. He will be at Montedio Yamagata in J1 next season and be making a return to Fukuoka as an opposition player during the season. It does make me wonder if the reason he was released was because of money (he had been on 10m yen a season apparently) and he knew he had other options.

As far as new players arriving there have not yet been any ‘star’ names which stand out. Hopefully Shinoda will be able to pull out some diamonds like Nakamachi and Genki last season.

Takuya Matsuura As mentioned previously he has signed, but only on a 1 season loan deal. He is a short, creative attacking midfielder who likes to dribble and will almost certainly be a starting player for us. An obvious replacement for Kudo on the right wing.

Sho Naruoka Accompanying Matsuura from Jubilo is another midfielder. He has plenty of top flight experience having played about 150 games in J1. I don’t know where he plays in midfield but having previously held the #10 shirt it implies he might be creative.

Takumi Wada Defender from JEF who didn’t have their best season defensively. Whenever I did see them Yohei Fukumoto seemed the pick of their defenders. Is being compared to Yamagata a bit, so maybe back-up for full-back.

Kentaro Shigematsu Supposed to be a promising young striker from FC Tokyo, described as physically strong and calm under pressure on their homepage, but not tall. Played for the Japan U-18 team.

Worse news is that it seems that Genki might be moving to Ventforet Kofu after having his best ever season. I’m not totally surprised as he never looked really happy, and having originally come from the Tokyo area maybe he wants to go back up there.
