Avispa have had a rest week where hopefully their confidence has been buoyed after scoring 14 goals against a local University team, and seeing low-ranked opposition teams Thespa and Fagiano continue getting good results. Maybe they are both in good form and that explains why we didn’t get 6 points from them.
I’m hoping that like earlier in the season the rest week will have been a good chance to get organised and come back a better team.
Last time it stopped a run of 4 defeats, and led to us going unbeaten until the World Cup. Hopefully it will do the same again, especially with some tough games in coming weeks.
Ehime beat us in the run of 4 defeats earlier in the season, and Avispa should be looking to avenge that loss as well as prove the games against Thespa and Fagiano were small hiccoughs.
The big question for me will be if Jumbo is playing. He was substituted at half-time against Fagiano. If he is playing then maybe he knows he isn’t guaranteed a place in the starting team now and will try a little harder.
My prediction : Avispa 2 – 1 Ehime
Ehime have a good Brazilian striker (Josimar) who will be difficult to stop scoring, but are not great defensively; playing quite a narrow defence (if there game last week was anything to go by). Genki to score 1 and set 1 up.
